Integration of Theology and Practical Ministry: Residents will read various theology books related to ministry/mission and reflect on the theological implications for their specific context. Residents will develop a philosophy of ministry that is biblically sound and contextually sensitive. 


Involvement in Christian Community: Residents will benefit from personal interaction with other ministry leaders in a context of learning, personal spiritual growth, accountability, and honest evaluation. 


Utilization of Ministry Gifts/Skills: Residents will have the opportunity to explore many different facets of church ministry and utilize their God-given spiritual gifts to encourage others and build up the church. 


Assistance in identifying long-term ministry placement at the conclusion of the internship.

Compensation

A ministry stipend or housing allowance (amount of stipend/allowance is based on financial need and on number of ministry hours worked per week). The stipend/allowance amount will be negotiated and agreed upon before the beginning of the residency program. 


Process for entering the program

  1. Prospective resident has initial interview with resident supervisor(s).
  2. Application completed/Background Check & Credit Check forms completed.
  3. Secondary interview to discuss application, ministry goals, and theology.
  4. Meeting with resident supervisor(s) to determine appropriate ministry context and focus.
  5. Stipend amount and residency start day approved by resident supervisor(s).

Track #1: Pastoral Residency Program (1 year program)


Work in an existing Missionary Church Florida local church under the supervision of a pastor. The pastoral resident is expected to be bi-vocational.


Track # 2: Pastoral Residency Program (2 year program)


Same as track #1, but year 2 will focus on the development of a disciple making community/church plant connected to Missionary Church Florida. The pastoral resident is expected to be bi-vocational.
